“A succession of scenic landscapes and extraordinary encounters in the desert lands of northern Kenya up to the great 'Sea of Jade', Lake Turkana.”
We want to share the story of the expedition to Lake Turkana of the friend and journalist Bruno Angelico undertaken with us..
Turkana: I look for the mysterious and profound reasons why this name fascinates me. Why that lake, which is perhaps not the most beautiful, that land, which is certainly not the most welcoming, that journey, which indeed cannot be said easy, and those people, still in an indefinable past, have always exercised for me an attraction and a quenching desire. Trampling on those stones that millions of years ago were stepped on by our ancestors, unleashed a profound intensity in me.
Since I decided to live in Africa, the idea tormented me and, periodically, surfaced from my unconscious: I had to reach the Turkana. And I had to do it the hard way, crossing savannah and deserts by car, chewing on miles and miles of dust and fatigue, trying to get hold of a Kenya that is moving too fast for my time. The very idea of embarking on a small aircraft to catapult me to the center of that land annoyed me. As if making the arrival simple trivializes and shatters the dream.
