The book recounts fifty years of history of the Association of Master Tailors and Dressmakers of Turin. A major Turin organization founded in 1949, it has been forgotten by the collective memory despite bringing prestige to the city of Turin for over half a century.
Fashion shows, national and international fashion shows, parades in major Italian cities, air and sea tours, and the automotive-fashion partnership were just some of the various initiatives that characterized the work of the AMAS Master Tailors, enhancing and supporting bespoke clothing and, at the same time, promoting and shaping Italian sartorial fashion.
The book aims to bear witness to the work carried out with sacrifice and dedication, with sweat and toil, by a myriad of artisans who refused to succumb to competition from mass-produced clothing, creating and championing sartorial elegance as a status symbol in Italy and around the world.
Thanks to AMAS, thousands of young artisans have continued the bespoke tailoring tradition, resisting as much as possible the inexorable spread of the garment industries, giving Turin a prestige and wealth that will remain engraved in the city's history.
